Winston Churchill the Writer!

Churchill is known primarily as an adventurer, the son of a Lord, and the war-time Prime Minister of Mother England having been the voice behind heroic motivational speeches like "this is not the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning." He might have been considered royalty, but in fact, his only means of income came primarily from freelance journalism and writing. He was also, dead broke for the majority of his life. Sounds old Ole Winston was one of us, when it came right down to it.
